Skylights are the hardest glass on the property to reach and the easiest to neglect. We clean the glass, the flashing line and the surrounding roof area safely, without walking where a roof cannot take the weight.
A dirty skylight costs you the daylight you paid for. Most of what blocks it is organic growth and debris sitting in the flashing channel, not damage to the glass.
Skylight problems tend to show up as less light rather than visible dirt:
Buildup happens slowly enough that you stop noticing. A film of algae and pollen across the glass can cut the daylight coming through dramatically before anyone thinks to look up.
Shaded, damp glass grows the same algae a roof does. It takes hold around the frame first and works inward from there.
Leaves and grit collect in the channel where the skylight meets the roof. Held there wet against the flashing, that is where leaks tend to start.
Runoff from a dirty skylight streaks the roof below it. Cleaning the glass without treating the roof around it leaves an obvious clean patch.
We do not reseal, reflash or repair skylights, and we will not walk a roof we judge unsafe or too brittle. If we find a cracked pane or a failed seal we will tell you and photograph it, but the repair is a roofer's job.

It is when the roof can take it and the weather is right. We work off the roof only where it is sound and safe to walk; otherwise we reach the skylight from a ladder and extension equipment. We would rather reschedule than put a crew or your roof at risk.
No. Clearing packed debris out of the flashing channel removes one common cause of future leaks, but an active leak means a failed seal or flashing and needs a roofer. We are a cleaning company, not a roofing contractor.
Usually yes, if it can be reached safely from inside with a pole or ladder. Very high ceilings sometimes need equipment we would need to arrange in advance, so mention it when you ask for the quote.
It is usually worth it. Cleaning the skylight alone tends to leave a visibly clean patch on a stained roof, and doing both in one visit costs less than two separate trips.
